ABOUT
Training in neurodevelopmental pediatrics incorporates the best that pediatrics, neurology and developmental pediatrics have to offer as well as the related fields of genetics, child psychiatry, and allied health.
The PCMC Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics fellowship training program established in 1997 is a 3- year fellowship training program offered to pediatricians who desire to learn and be an advocate for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions. It is part of the Child Neuroscience Division which unites under one roof a team of neuroscience experts who assesses, advises and makes plans for the future of a child whose development is delayed or one who already has an identified disability.
The training program provides a unique collaboration with the other subspecialties within the division, which includes Sections of Child Neurology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Neuropsychology, Neurodiagnostics and Neuroscience Research. These complements the training program and the 3-year rotations include the following:
12 months - Child Neurology
18 months - Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics
3 months - Neuropsychology
3 months - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
There are also rotators in Rehab Medicine, Speech/Language Therapy and Reading Clinic
It has a 2-pronged approach in the acceptance of trainees: A 3-year fellowship training program for pediatric residency graduates and a 2-year fellowship training for child neurology fellowship graduates.
